Middle States Accreditation

Middle States Accreditation
Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools (MSCES) of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools awarded accreditation to Saint Luke the Evangelist School in 1986, and awarded reaccreditation in 1996 and again in 2006. MSCES accreditation signifies the educational community of Saint Luke School has engaged in a rigorous process of developing self-knowledge; has hosted an evaluation team of independently appointed educators; and has created an ongoing Strategic Plan to move school improvement forward. The 18 month process was governed by a Core Committee of seven faculty members.

The process involved many elements of the Saint Luke School community including an outside Planning Team, the entire faculty, parents, and students. Accreditation also signifies that Saint Luke School has met the MSCES Standards for a quality school. These standards reflect current research and best practices from throughout the education profession. During the term of accreditation the school community will engage in a Commission-directed series of reports and/or site visits to maintain the rigor of the accreditation process.

Accreditation by MSCES is recognized around the world as an indication of trustworthiness, educational quality, and a commitment to on-going school improvement. F. Laird Evans, Ed.D., President of the Commission, offered his congratulations to the entire Saint Luke School community, adding: “MSCES accreditation is recognition of both prior achievements and a commitment to greater future accomplishments.”

Saint Luke School most recently completed Mid-Point Review requirements in May of 2010 for this accreditation period. Concluding comments from the Mid-Year Report issues by MSCES described Saint Luke the Evangelist School as a “hallmark for Catholic Education in this twenty-first century. They are blessed with myriad strengths including: superlative leadership; a challenging academic environment; dedicated faculty; proactive parental network; and an excellent rapport with the parish community. Their school is built upon the solid roots of their Catholic Identity which encourages all children to be active participants in the actualization of their faith. The conscientious strategic planning efforts of the diligent administration and faculty are empowering the school to not only survive, but thrive in our global society.”
