Room 204
Grade 5
Mr. Andrew Liebel

Welcome to Fifth Grade!

Please view the First Day Parent Letter (see link at bottom of page) for some important information.

Please view the Welcome-Overview (see link at bottom of page) for a brief summary of the curriculum for the Fifth Grade in Religion, Mathematics, and Science.

Please check the Bulletin Board link for important information through out the school year.

The following is a brief explanation of some of the policies and procedures in Room 204:

CONFERENCES - If you wish to contact me concerning your child, please feel free to send a note to school, phone the school office, or email me through the school website (www.saintlukeschool.org), or the link at the bottom of this page.  I will be in touch with you as soon as possible.

WRITTEN NOTES - Written notes are required for all absences, even if you have called Child Check.   This is a state law.   They are also required for any change in routine (e.g. going home with a friend or in a different line).

HOMEWORK - Homework will be assigned each weeknight.  It may include reading, writing or studying.  Whenever possible, there will be no assignments given on weekends.  I urge you to check that all written assignments have been completed neatly, that all reading is finished, and that all studied material is known.  Assignment books should be signed after homework has been checked.
Students will begin each trimester with a homework grade of 100 in each subject.  For each written assignment that is not handed in, four points will be deducted from that grade.  The student will also stay in during lunch time recess to make-up the missed assignment.

SIGNED PAPERS - Marked papers will be sent home on Thursdays.   They should be signed and returned to school the next day.

ASSESSMENTS – Each subject is assessed in five different ways.   These are listed below.

Religion:  Tests, Quizzes, Classwork, Projects, and Homework

Mathematics:  Tests, Quizzes, Classwork/Maintenance, Performance Assessments, and Homework

Science:  Tests, Class Activities/Quizzes, Graded Worksheets, Projects, and Homework

ASSIGNMENTS – All long term assignments will be posted on my Calendar (see link below).  The students will usually be given at least a weeks notice for major tests and longer for projects.   Dates will be posted when the children are informed that the evaluation is being given.
